all the age verification and especially the OS age verification makes me want to work hard on Bismuth so i can put out an OS that will not do it and if the law comes knocking i will just be like "no its not an OS its just a VM actually :)"

and yes i know this wouldn't work and even if i could pull it off it would solve nothing. i just want to push back against this nonsense in my own limited way before it gets so entrenched as the status quo that saying age verification is bad and ineffective will get responses like "well what do you propose, *not* have age verification?" like it's a foregone conclusion and was always there
and you know that's where we're going to end up after a decade of this
