    My husband called me Professor Gumby. Boy, EEGs suck something fierce! My neurologist wanted to check brain activity during a musical ear episode, so now I look like I escaped the hospital. Does anyone else want to bitch about EEGs? That was the most unpleasant test I've ever had, including allergy batteries and nerve conduction studies. I don't mind the fashion of this take-home exam, but I really don't want another one. Ever. #EEGsSuck #NegativeEEGExperience

    @spiegelmama Never had a take home one but I agree, they suck. I hope you're able to sleep with it all.

      @spiegelmama I had an EMG, which also sucked. Let's shock you and see what your muscles do! Yay!

              @cR0w If you can't do the "man woman camera table TV" test correctly, they let you take the test open book. πŸ˜‚

              Seriously, I'm so sorry you have experience here. I thought "non-invasive" meant something different, I guess. Ugh. But hug. πŸ«‚

                @spiegelmama Thanks but I did it all to myself. To many head injuries from mostly bad decisions. I feel really bad for people dealing with it all through no fault of their own. Good luck.

                          @spiegelmama my worst procedure was a CT with rapidly profused contrast. Except they accidentally blew the blood vessel and profused it into my armpit. All of it. Walked around with a sausage arm for a week. Hang in there!

                              @nuintari One of the light patterns reached under my face and hurt me, and I could not stop sobbing for the rest of the test. I hate that this just happens and I went into it thinking it would be fine. I really wish I'd known. Solidarity. πŸ«‚

                                @eniatitova Oof! That is pretty bad. It really sounds worse than the time during labor when the nurse accidentally stabbed a nerve with the IV and my sister had to tell her because I was speechless. That was quick and the pain ended the second the nurse fixed positioning. This would be a close second to the EEG.

                                  @spiegelmama@infosec.exchange

                                  If it has a display anywhere, my friends made a game of showing me things and seeing how the display reacted when they visited me - this was an in-hospital EEG though. Head itchy was a big problem, but darn did it feel great when they took it off and scratched off all the glue!

                                  I might actually recommend an in-hospital over an ambulatory if you can get away with it. I only did an ambulatory as a child and don't remember it much, but as an adult having a week to just focus on the EEG in a hospital was good, at least for my personal goal of having a seizure on-record. All caffeine, no sleep, I wasn't in a place to do much anyway.

                                  Hope you got the info you need!

                                        @jeridansky Thank you, Jeri! I admit, I'm not handling it very well. I'm trying to look at the funny side while also warning people to prepare for potential unpleasantness if they have to get an EEG.

                                        The bonnet's not too bad, but the purse for the battery pack is a little much. πŸ˜•

                                          @spiegelmama "An EEG has been used for many years. It's considered a safe procedure. The test causes no discomfort."
