I love how Babylon 5 often starts with something entirely mundane.
Having breakfast. Picking up mail. Gift shops. Even regular doctors appointments.
Sure, these things sometimes tie into the general plot, but the people feel more real, and it makes for good opportunities to show how the crises impact normal people.
