24.5C w gale force S wind 0930 this morn. coming out Clarks Fk. Yellowstone R. Cyn 1330m, unreal. River up some, not near spring flush. Hiking beat-down on return at least 120kph gust ripped hat off my neck, broke chin strap. Sunglasses flew off too, but was able find those. Almost blown over, but recovered. This deep canyon drains NE GYE high country, usually windy. Did get to Bridalveil Falls too. Nice to see Bighorn friends on our departure . #climatecrisis #hiking #wyoming #dogs #wildlife

2025 brought record drought, wildfires and windstorms to the Mountain WestAt its peak, nearly two-thirds of the Colorado-Utah-Wyoming area was in drought. Below-average snowpack, limited spring precipitation and record-setting heat combined to dry out soils and vegetation early in the year.#drought #Colorado #Wyoming #Utah #wildfire #wind #weather https://www.kunr.org/local-stories/2026-02-24/2025-brought-record-drought-wildfires-windstorms-mountain-west-report
