I am so ready to put out my tomatoes in a week or two. Beet, dill, cilantro, kale, and lettuce seeds are already in the ground. Chives, green onions, sage, oregano, and thyme are coming back on their own.The greens in the long narrow tomato bed are softneck summer garlic that I originally planted in 2024 as a pest barrier. It has evolved to endure the Ottawa winter, and now keeps coming up on its own (it's small — sometimes just one clove — but very pungent). You can see a bit of the good hardneck winter garlic in the last bed on the right.I plan to companion plant butternut squash between the tomatoes.#gardening #Ottawa #tomatoes
