The McPherson Playhouse theatre in Victoria, BC, Canada has received visits from the "Grey Lady" over the last 75 years. This ghost wears a long, blue-grey dress and wanders the theatre's balcony; sometimes she floats above the actors. No one knows her true identity. #PhantomsFriday #GothicSpring #Mythology #Folklore #Canada #Occult #Paranormal #Ghost #Haunting #Theatre

@bevanthomas I always thought the 3 Fates is more accurate than 3 witches. Originally Clotho, Lachesis, and Atropos in Greece.Hectate wasn't 1, though like the Morrigna became 3 fold. The Norse Norns, Urðr, Verðandi, and Skuld, remind me also of the Greek Fates and Shakespeare's three witches. There is also the Maiden, Mother & Crone in Western tradition which is variously 3 separate witches or 3 aspects (like Hectate became) of one witch or a fay/sidhe. Though fay are usually like maidens.

I am a published fiction writer and poet and a lyricist who has written a 28-page libretto, adapted from my own 10-poem cycle.I am seeking a composer who writes or at least is influenced by pop, jazz, classical and cabaret styles. The libretto tells a simple love story with a gender-bending twist and the atmosphere of a waking dream. The language is heightened and poetic. There are simple stage directions that hint at the possibilities of staging. To get a better idea of my writing accomplishments and interests, I would encourage you to go to my web site www.stevenmayoff.ca and have a look around before reaching out to me. Comedian Gianmarco Soresi invites an audience member on stage and she performs the song "Astonishing" from the musical Little Women.Afterwards Soresi tells the audience:"I know some of you have kids and don't want them to pursue musical theatre. Here's how I think you should convince them...Show them that song first, then say: 'That talent, that level of talent is currently putting on a puppet show 3 times a day, going "I'm Miss Clam", and the college they went to has just filed for bankruptcy.' Is there nothing more clear about how broken this industry is?" #FineArts #Musical #Arts #Theatre

Yesterday evening I went up to Baltimore to see the Fells Point Theatre Company's (https://www.fpct.org/) production of MISS HOLMES RETURNS, by Christopher Walsh. This is a sequel to a gender-flipped Sherlock Holmes play they presented 2 years ago; this time Miss Holmes and Dr Dorothy Watson. I really enjoyed this production; highlights for me were:* Gender-flipping Holmes isn't a new idea, but the playwright does some fun things with it, such as introducing romantic tension between Holmes and Moriarty, and even Holmes and Lestrade. Walsh is also not afraid to break the status quo, removing one character very unexpectedly, and indulges in some Sherlockian nerdery (like Moriarty explaining how both he and his brother are called James).* Andy Belt's performance as Mycroft Holmes. The character is very dislikable; in the first play he has Holmes committed to an asylum and he still uses that threat to keep Sherlock under his thumb. Belt's portrayal of that is deliciously snide.* Lance Bankerd's performance as Adam Worthington, which reminded me very strongly of Colin Baker's Doctor, especially in Act One. Baker's Doctor is my favorite of the classic era, so that was delightful. This is the last weekend of performances, so catch it if you can!#SherlockHolmes #holmes #baltimore #theatre
