@Velocifyer ... the selection of images onto it.But hey, I have no trademark on the term "immutable OS", and pretty obviously people have different definitions of the term. For example ostree/bootc people think a mutable fs backend is fine, though I'd disagree.

@pid_eins Oh this sounds like a good test candidate for my Netgate 6100 firewall at home.Currently, the UEFI and systemd-boot displays output via serial (this machine has no VGA or the likes) but the kernel stays silent unless I specify the console parameter on the kernel cmdline.

@purpleidea @pid_eins I think there’s room for both #configmanagememt driven sharding of populations and autonomous local stable sharding. The latter is useful when you want the local state to be persistent and stable even when #configmanagememt stops working or is not used in the first place.
