@sustainable_schools Some clients, such as the Mastodon Advanced Web Client, allow you to pin a column that shows only followed hashtags, rather than their getting lost in one's home feed.Moreover, hashtags are typically hotlinked in the client, such that one can pull up prior posts on those tags that your server knows about. Identifying the accounts that post on those topics consistently, even if infrequently, and following those directly, can be helpful.If, in the course of reviewing those hashtags, you discover multiple accounts on the same server posting on related topics, maybe get an account on that server to see if there's a community there of others, posting on the same topics, that aren't making it to your server.Relatedly, you're on a relatively small server, which may limit how much of the greater fediverse you're seeing. Opening an account on one of the larger servers, with memberships in the hundreds of thousands or millions, just to poke around at their hashtag lists, may reveal more activity.Neither of these latter two suggestions mean that you have to migrate to another server. If you're happy on the one you're on, stick with it. This is just a way to reconnoiter and find those that you'd want to follow from your own server, so that their posts make it over to you and the rest of your local timeline.Think of it as having a library card in another city, browsing the stacks when visiting same, then arranging for Interlibrary Loan of materials of interest, to check out from your home library.
