The source code of #PawFed is now available on #Codeberg. PawFed is a federated map for animal welfare: reports come from the #Fediverse via #ActivityPub mentions, and permanent places like shelters and vets are pulled from OpenStreetMap. A location is not always required: if you have supplies or food to give away and can ship, just say so. Found an abandoned animal? PawFed is not tied to any country or language. Right now it works in French and English: #chat #perdu and #cat #lost produce the same report.But the goal is to go further. Hashtag and keyword detection is based on translation files. When someone contributes a new language, PawFed starts understanding posts in that language automatically. (2/3)

@appsAm I correct in my understanding that this requires one to reveal their IRL location in a public toot?I am sorry, but I am not comfortable with that, unfortunately. I can, and will, however consider setting up another account just for this purpose. Especially since I'm using a certain fediverse app that just happens to handle multiple accounts very nicely @PawFed
