I guess since the whole "Flatpak creating a dependency on systemd" bullshit has surfaced this week there has been some other conversations about systemd going on throughout the Fediverse.

@RootMoose I wanted a Debian-based system without systemd so I've installed Devuan with sysVinit, as secondary OS. As a rather casual desktop user, I haven't encountered yet any use case that actually requires systemd's power features, so far I could get by with OpenRC or sysVinit just fine.
