Here's something for the #Netbird experts, need some #help:So I have got a local server, no internet exposure. Plenty of services on there running in containers and VMs in a own network. There's also a local reverse proxy forwarding traffic to those services and managing Let's encrypt certificates. So, I have got aplenty of Netbird peers already. Tunneling etc. works perfectly fine. Got an Netbird management node on a VM along with a Traefik container. The DNS records for my domains point to either my local server (thus not reachable without tunnel) and/or to my nNtbird control node Maybe I have been too deep in the rabbit hole for today but I cannot seem to figure out how to properly make my local services available exclusively to Netbird peers. 1) Pointing to my local reverse proxy would give me proper encrypted connections via my domain – makes no sense because anyone could simply access any other service behind that proxy (unless I'm missing something here).2) I am willing to try the beta reverse proxy option and let it do all the stuff but the Netbird only access is greyed out (see screenshot). Shouldn't it be available though if I have the Traefik container present right next to it on the same public server?3) Have anyone got any other ideas, hints, leads? Going with self-signed certs is not an option because some services pretty much require proper certs with real domains.Meanwhile I will steal some stuff from my peers in the old camp in #Gothic and beat up Mud one more time. Keeps spawning into me all the time and waking people up, while I try to steal the stuff, ugh! ‍#selfhosting #Tunneling #VPN #WireGuard

@bjoern I play the Reverse-UNO-Card: Why Headscale instead of Netbird or Pangolin? They all do thing a bit differently but cover many of the same features these days and tick all my boxes. And I was looking for an entirely FOSS based solution. I know that Tailscale clients + Headscale is all FOSS too.Honestly, I didn't even consider Headscale and cannot compare. Therefore: You tell me!

    As a follow up to my recent post on @Netbird, I also wrote a post on my experiences with #headscale! This is basically a self-hosted @tailscale. https://www.infralovers.com/blog/2026-05-22-headscale-self-hosted-tailscale-alternative/#ZeroTrust #NetBird #OpenSource #WireGuard #InfoSec#NIS2 #SelfHosted #Tailscale
