@NetscapeNavigator as with so many posts on the internet, please be clear that you are taking ONLY from a USA perspective, since your process is not democratic in the first place. In the rest of the world where there are more than two parties then your argument is rubbish. In most countries, where there is some form of proportional representation, you MUST vote according to who best reflects your opinions, and extreme points of view are quite rightly on the fringes of the political discussion taking place.
