@WizardOfDocs @MakersHour GLASS LATHE. They cost about $40K Canadian as there are only a handful made each year as they last so long: I used a couple from the 1960s while I was at SFU and they were a delight to work on.

@MakersHour A3 This is complicated. Via the makerspace I have access to machines I could only drea of owning, a lathe, big mill, cnc, surface grinder. I would love to own all of these, but I live in a small apartment, That's simply not practical. But being a member of the makerspace means that I can sidestep all the ownership issues.That said, it would be great if the space had a bigger 3d printer, and a laser cutter that could cut 8mm steel... #MakersHour

@MakersHour Aethon. Outside of making I look after the house, carer and a fair bit of rural work. Making wise, not a lot as I damaged my shoulder putting up some fencing. I made some leather sheaths for the local shearers.

@MakersHour An oil painting of a concrete building in a meadow full of white flowers under an ominous grey sky. The bottom of the building is covered in graffiti tags, but the upper layers are still clean, though they look a bit worn. On one side, there's a roof terrace with some lush shrubs getting on it. Trough the building looks slightly worn, perhaps even abandoned, it's somehow not creepy or scary. There's a weird post-apocalyptic atmosphere to the picture, but in an all humans are gone sense, not an everyone you meet is dangerous sense. (A painting by @leemadgewick@mastodonapp.uk)#MakersHour

@quixoticgeek @MakersHour Same here, until I started my furniture HND course.

@MakersHour A5 at risk of an actual sensible answer today. After too many drawings where workshop dirt blurred part of the dimension, so you can't see if the part should be 75mm or 75cm. I now stick to only using 1000 multiples. So m, mm, um, etc... this then provides context. A 75m length doesn't fit in the lathe, it has to be 75mm. Even if the unit part of the drawing is completely obscured by oil or coffee... That and only using sensible unit systems, provides for error checking#MakersHour
