@wrog@mastodon.murkworks.net my instance has a 5000 character limit, but I rarely type that much. Most of my posts are three or four paragraphs. I could probably make do with 2500 characters, but it is nice to have a little extra space so I don't feel like I have to watch the character counter so closely. And I have space to write in complete sentences, to include example code, paste long URLs, and quote parts of other posts inline.
