On #ThisDayInHistory in 1887 the #DawesAct was signed into law. This subdivided #Indigenous reservations into individual plots, forcing capitalism onto #NativeAmericans, and allowed much of it to be sold by the government to white settlers. 100 million acres were lost. #LandBack
