Got this done on my livestream yesterday. It’s a Western Snowy Plover, a threatened bird found in the western US among sand and salt flats. It’s one of the most adorable birds I’ve heard of, and the chicks are literally the smaller than pingpong balls. Interestingly, after sharing the incubation responsibilities to hatch the eggs, the mother will seek a new mate while the father becomes the primary protector for several weeks, teaching the chicks how to hunt bugs and worms to feed themselves. It’s an interesting dynamic. After a month, they’re ready to fly. But their habitats are succumbing to human encroachment on beaches, pollution, and the ever constant predators ready for a meal about the size of a sparrow. I drew this because this bird had been suggested to me at the Godwit Bird Festival, where there was a table set up to help awareness of their plight. https://westernsnowyplover.org/Here’s the speedpaint: https://makertube.net/w/aX8RdiEAt9hEPBHdbPsmRzYou can find more of my work on my website: https://coreyartusimagery.com/#Birds #BirdArt #Plover #Art #MastoArt #IndieArtist #Artist
