@dansup I don't think they are harmful either and can be fun to use. I was just confused about priorities as the promised UI is a year late.But I honestly think the for you algorithm is. You might not send your data to big tech, but you're stuck with the same harmful addictive patterns big tech had invented to keep you trapped. So, I don't think people spending more and more hours in it's actually a good thing.With Pixelfed for example, I found it's much better at avoiding harmful patterns.
