@forty2 And the thing is that you can screen people effectively without being an ass. I've seen some good and bad examples how the thing can be handled. The Japanese for example were really polite but firm. Ours is usually okay too, plus they have the modern scanners where you can leave everything in the bags. TSA does not get a gold star in any category.
