Originally, Mxy wore a purple tuxedo, which transitioned in the mid-to-late 50s to his modern orange spacesuit look (plus the modern spelling of his name). Also, originally, *anyone* who said Mxy's name backwards got sent to the Fifth Dimension (something soon dropped); it was actually a magic word spelled like his name backwards by coincidence. (An even harder to say/spell word would send one to Earth.)
