Any suggestions from my experienced #China travel fellows : Since I missed my train in Estonia, I'm two days late in Ürümqi and will thereby miss my booked train to Xi'an and onwards to Kunming and Vientiane.
Any secret places to still get tickets ? I'd prefer to take the high speed train rather than 37 h with a standing ticket.
(Being late in China because of a delay in Latvia is cursed btw.)

Some high speed rail journeys dont offer standing tickets, but if you buy a ticket for a short stretch of the journey, get on board and then buy a ticket, you can make it to your destination.
A standing ticket might be the only way. Then hopping empty seats until you arrive at your destination
The english version of the app actually has less functions than the chinese version

You can rebook tickets via the railway12306 platform (better on mobile) but its not so flexible. They have an english speaking helpline too

Arriving here, I boarded a
Fuxing Hao high-speed train getting me southbound to Kunming.The railway station is as busy as expected, loud crowded but the boarding went fast and smooth.

It's 15 °C outside and considering how I spent the last few days crossing Siberia at -20 °C this feels really strange : Finally no more gloves, flop-flop shoes and a business-casual blazer rather than my three layers of warm pullovers and jackets.

!The last three days will be exhausting : All day in the
Fuxing Hao "Green Hulk" train to Laos tomorrow, right crossing the border to Thailand by bus, night train to Bangkok and a connecting day-time train to Surat Thani arriving at 1 a.m., a night there and by bus and boat to Kho Pangan. Saturday will be my final day of arrival after 11 days of travel time.Mission for my way back : Book tickets in advance, include some buffer time and take it more relaxed
