AI bandwagoners are worrying that they can't do mastodon. Anyone can set up servers that talk to each other, I mean ffs Gab has used/still uses mastodon as tech base.

Same reason you hear people say it's a technology that won't last. There's no way to monetize it if the user is the one in control of what they see in the Fediverse.

It has purpose and fulfills a need, but Big money just won't be flocking to it because they can't manipulate it.

@MyWoolyMastadon @platypus And this is why big corpos buy out smaller projects. Because those projects are fulfilling a niche role which they don't see use in but want so desperately to control. Then they turn it into something unrecognizable compared to the original idea, charge money for it, and then they kill it because nobody wants to use it anymore. Rinse and repeat.
