#ScribesAndMakers Feb 13: How well do you sing? If you don't consider yourself a good singer, do you sing anyway?

I *yearned* to sing for most of my life and believed I couldn't, and then I sang a song in front of someone, and they complimented me, and so I sang my kids to sleep for years, but then they got tired of it, and now I'm out of practice, but that voice is there when I want to pull it out. If there were more hours in the day, I'd take lessons.

#ScribesAndMakers Feb 16: Do you have a favourite decade of music? Which one(s)?

Not so much favourites. Different eras hit me emotionally. Sixties music, which includes early the 1970s, reminds me of my childhood but in association with my parents. Eighties music reminds me of being a kid. Nineties and 2000s music is my own youth, so that can make me very nostalgic. And that's kinda when I stopped listening to contemporary music.

#ScribesAndMakers Feb 18. Our next featured creator has done her own book covers. Have you ever or would you ever do your own cover?

No, never. Not only can't I draw or draft, but I have no sense of design. In my head, I can see an old 60s-style cover. A background of space with recognizable constellations, in the mid-ground is a portion of Jupiter (the planet), and then foreground but still quite distant is a space station: three rings spinning around a dock in the centre.

D&D has profoundly affected my sense of storytelling, in good ways and bad ways. The good way is that I'm an improviser. The bad way is that I sometimes think in terms of "encounters," which isn't the same as *plot*.

That one. That one, specifically. Every time I hear it invoked, I immediately go into a speech I've given many times about how it's an utter bullshit concept that *certain people* are attached to bc they think it justifies them ACTING LIKE ASSHOLES.
