      With his buddies Skippy and Muddy or whatever their stupid fucking names were.

      Again... Every _single thing_ (I don't consider this hyperbole) he said during his confirmation should have been the reddest of flags but they fucking confirmed him anyway.

      @401matthall @_L1vY_

      I agree with all that, but not with the crying part

      It would be nice if our political system gave space for people to be whole humans

      I think his were crocodile tears though

        @NilaJones

        I hear you, and I'm not belittling anyone for having emotions or expressing them.

        It's the context.

        He cried for himself. He didn't cry for others who'd been wronged or treated unjustly.

        If Amy Barrett had cried at her confirmation we'd have never heard the _end_ of it.

        I think someone who's about to be one of nine trusted for the rest of their life to interpret the constitutionality of laws should be able to maintain some composure.

            @401matthall

            There's this idea in our society that emotions and rationality are opposed to each other. That if someone maintains their composure, they are more able to think rationally

            I happen to believe the opposite is true. I think that open expression of emotions tends to make people more honest in the moment, and more able to think rationally about the issue than they otherwise would, later

            Being able to put emotions aside and think is certainly an important skill, in crisis situations. But I would prefer that supreme court decisions be made by people who can think more deeply than that, and with their whole hearts, and with time to consider. Their decisions are rarely crisis moments

            None of this is in favor of Kavanaugh. He is a joke, and never should have been nominated, let alone confirmed

              Yeah, I very much respect your position. I'd have to really think about how I feel about it before I could offer a more meaningful response. (I just don't have the bandwidth today.)

              But thanks for engaging with me about it! ❤

                  "Waiting for Trump's press conference and C-SPAN is replaying the oral arguments from this case.

                  I've never heard Solicitor General John Sauer speak before, so I'm not sure if it's just because he had to defend this loser of a case or if it's his norm, but I'd describe his tone as 'flopsweat.' "

                    @_L1vY_ the members of the court that were ok with everything else might take note that he's likely coming for them now.

                    Such a shame to be eaten by their own creation.

                      @wronglang @_L1vY_ But I had a horrible typo! 😂 I'm happy with multiple people piling on Kavanaugh.

                        Also Kavanaugh came in with a 63-page dissent. 😑
