I live in a country where Burns Night is an official celebration and there's a 200 foot tall monument to the nation's greatest Victorian writer on the main shipping street.
I don't *need* to cenebrate any writerly anniversaries because the state does it for me!

There are one or two geek observances I mark including Pi Day, Both 7 of 9 days, 4th May and 21st June
Oh, and Talk like a Pirate Day, of course
