- While I was away at college, someone in my D&D group went on a rant about kink, and BDSM in particular, and how he wouldn't know how to react if he knew someone who was into that. Two of my friends in the group thought it would be great fun to say "Well, E's into all that stuff, you can ask about it when he's back from college." When I came back, I was informed of this put-on, and played along for the entire summer, and, well, one inhabits a role to play a scene...
- In high school, I was briefly the marching band mascot (a bear, of all things); later, I played goalie in ice hockey, masked, padded like a giant marshmallow; when I took up motorcycling, I always wore full protective equipment and a full-face helmet; at the age of fiftyish, at a Halloween dance, dressed as a voodoo doll with a faceless white mask, it finally dawned on me that I am a completely different person when everybody's looking at me and nobody can see me.
- Alone, on a dirt road in a forest near the Oregon Coast, with a broken ankle and several hundred pounds of motorcycle flat on its side, I got my one good leg under me and lifted, lifted, until the bike was upright, dragging my wrecked leg across the ground, and then riding two hours out of the forest, surfing on the crest of that majestic wave of pain.

It wasn't from that particular character, but there's another character in that game named Wendy who's a fast food worker with that kink.

i) I found out I was into near-death experiences when I had a huge accident at work. Lying in a pool of my own blood phasing out & suddenly realised how turned on I was.
ii) I found out I was into electro play when I saw the character Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Kept waiting for him to come back on screen.
iii) I found out I was into soft when I slept on a broken mattress at a party in Exeter. It was like being on a cloud. Girlfriend was in my arms. Lush.

@alice As I'm trying to think of different stories to use for this, I'm realizing that I haven't actually shared a lot of them publicly, and now i have to figure out which ones are tame enough
