went kayaking in the sea. wind blew me sideways at the wrong moment, tipped over, fell in. got dragged back half way to shore by my wife, then pulled out of the sea by the lifeguards. laughed so much I thought I might throw up. 10/10 would fall in again.

turns out getting back into a kayak while carrying the oar, wearing a soaking lifejacket, and contending with two long-running shoulder injuries, is... difficult.

and very very funny to watch.

@ddr I'm fine lol, there was an initial moment of "augh! oh crap!" when I fell in, but the lifejacket easily kept me afloat and there were tons of people in boats around to help if needed.

technically if I had swam 20-30m towards land I could've touched the bottom, and I was wearing water shoes, but there's patches of coral and standing on it would've made me rather sad.

@gsuberland As someone who has been dragged out to see by a rip current (fortunately I was young and fit back then and a strong swimmer), I would not recommend! 😬

Glad you're okay and in good spirits though. 👊🏼

@dch nah there were tons of boats out, we could've flagged anyone down easily, and I was only maybe 30m from where I could touch the bottom (although I would have been sad to do so, because there was coral)

@ApostateEnglishman oh yeah that would be scary. luckily this was calm waters, with a life jacket, my wife still in her kayak, tons of boats around, middle of the day, and not far from shore at all, so really just quite funny.

@gsuberland I remember when I was younger and I went kayaking at a dam sort of thing with my family. My brother was scooping up water into the kayak (I think my dad and I probably joined in at some pojnt). Of course, the boat flipped over and we all got thrown off into the water. Good memories
