A few more shots from our recent hike to Shi Shi ("Shy Shy") Beach, actually my first backpack since I survived cancer a few years ago.

@GPJohnston Looks like you had phenomenal weather!
I'd really like to do that north coast section someday.
Did you do out and back or through hike? Shuttle or two cars?
Did you have to get a permit from the Makah? -

@GPJohnston
Beautiful. It's so great that you made it past the cancer and can now take trips like this.

Did you have to get a permit from the Makah?@intrepidhero Weather was was almost perfect, cold the first night though in my 35-degree bag. We did an out and back. The through hike south to Ozette is the most difficult of the four main backpack trips on the Washington Coast, you really need minus tides or close, and Ozette River can usually not be forded in winter. Yep, had to reserve permits from Olympic National Park and the Makah, did both on line.

@GPJohnston ah ok. that's good to know.
There's a shuttle that will pick you up at Rialto and drop you at Ozette or Shi Shi so that you can hike back towards your car. It's not cheap but I'm thinking that would make a pretty epic through hike one of these days.

@IcooIey Point of the Arches is considered by many as the most scenic spot on the Washington Coast, which has many. And Shi Shi Beach is often listed by magazines as one of the best beaches on the planet. Very pleased I could see it all again.

@intrepidhero I did use a shuttle once that dropped us off at Ozette, leaving my rig at Rialto. Also used a shuttle when we backpacked the Lost Coast in northern CA.
