Like a lot of people, my new Virtual Boy accessory for the Switch came in this weekend and I had a lot of fun comparing it against my original!
The stands are just about identical, but there are some changes to the design around the nose, and the visor is also no longer removable.
Really interesting to see design revisions on this system like this.

@SuperSelena64 Wow so this means you could use the stand as a replacement for an original VB? That's cool! Makes me wonder if you could put a proper VB into the accessory's shell. Could maybe be a cool solution to repair broken units... if it works that is.

@SuperSelena64 I am so excited for this. Having my kids play the original hardware and the switch version. The visor is actually removable. They show it coming off to allow for the color variations on the switch

@SuperSelena64 does it still cause the same health problems if you use the device for too long? Or is that stuff better now?

I've had my original Virtual Boy since it came out in 95 and I've never experienced any of the issues people complain about. So it's either overblown or I'm the wrong one to ask!

Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild both already feature a stereoscopic 3D "VR" mode by default, so it was fun to test the Virtual Boy accessory and see a 3D polygonal Mario in red on my VB in 2026!
Like a future that never happened, but here it is!

@SuperSelena64 Whoa! Tell me more about this accessory! My VB needs a replacement ribbon (big surprise). Maybe this could light a fire under my butt to get it done.

Not much to tell, it's just a method to play the Virtual Boy games released on the Switch/2. What you should be excited about is the unreleased games coming to the service soon. I'm looking forward to them getting ripped and playable on my OG Virtual Boy, which I reflowed the ribbons on a few years ago:
