@fesshole if clothing cannot survive this sort of treatment then I don't own it. A surprising amount of things do tho.

@fesshole Your washing machine takes 4 hours to wash a normal load?!

@mfennvt @fesshole Normal load on mine is 3.5 hours (which it will shorten if it detects that the washing isn't too dirty). I really don't mind, because I set it up in the evening to finish by 6 in the morning, when the cheap electricity ends).

@jernej__s Good to know. Mine usually takes less than an hour, unless I'm using extra settings. Hence my surprise. @fesshole

@vonxylofon @fesshole You showed it to YOUR wife. He hides it from THE wife. I'll leave it there.

@jernej__s @mfennvt @fesshole a longer cycle is actually more water and energy efficient than a quick wash.

@jernej__s @mfennvt @fesshole I don't separate whites from other colours but then again I'm not fussy about them staying pure white so yeah... guess you also don't have any wool or delicate clothing either, or you would have probably noticed...

@fesshole of course there is no difference, this is for what washing machine are built for. Ir is the energy and water consumption what makes the difference. You are paying twice or more per load, stupid. RTFM and stop arguing!

@mfennvt @jernej__s @fesshole It's the eco mode. I'd bet there is a setting to make it an hour. Mine's exactly like that – 3 hours by default, 59 minutes on time saver.

Manufacturers wouldn't be able to declare those crazy low electricity consumption figures had they not invented the eco mode. 1 hour in warm water takes a certain amount of electricity no matter what, and that amount is higher than A++ EU eco rating.

@vonxylofon @mfennvt @fesshole A+++ is a thing of the past, now most washing machines are rated E or F (as are most other things under the new rules).
