@hallen Oh, ok, this is good to know. I figured with this event being on a Saturday, and obviously they would know that we need time to come up with songs to perform and time to prerecord them and get them submitted, that I just, automatically figured, they would send out something on Sunday at the absolute latest, to give everybody plenty of time to put together their entries and get them submitted.

@celrock I understand. A lot of us submitted the week before when the theme was first announced, but yes, I can see how that can be frustrating.

@celrock Also, they do observe national holidays, so I'm not sure if they are even checking emial today.

@hallen Oh, that’s right, today is Presidents’ Day. In that case, hopefully, I’ll at least hear back from somebody tomorrow, and can go from there in terms of deciding on what to do. I’d have all day Thursday to put something together, which is how I handled it last week, though to be fair, I hadn’t even considered submitting that song for karaoke until after I put it together for my show, listened back to it, and was so pleased with the results, that I decided to submit it for ACB community karaoke. It also worked out that Saturday was Valentine’s Day, so I figured the song would fit, as I assumed love songs, was the theme. It’s quite obvious.

@hallen Thank you for understanding. As I am very new to participating in community karaoke, I’m not fully aware of how it all works, and when to expect to hear on a weekly basis, from the people involved behind running the event. It’s a little more involved than just, showing up to Zoom on Saturday night, and performing your song Live, like what you’d do, if doing karaoke in person at a bar or something. I can see why it’s done this way, as the Internet isn’t connection solid proof, wanting everybody’s performance to sound smooth and to be able to be heard, even if the singer on Zoom should drop or something, their song will still play. However, it is more time consuming, and while I don’t mind putting something together, I hope I’ll eventually get a handle on when to expect to hear from people in charge, and when to have the prerecorded performance ready, so I can factor that into my schedule each week I wish to participate. They also seem to like making each week a theme for the event, which while cool, also presents another challenge.

@celrock Theme night is now only the third week of every month and it is always announced the first week of the month at the end of Karaoke. You being late obviously you wouldn't have heard that but now you know for future reference. I always try to figure out right away what I'm doing and get in early so I'm more likely to get my song, but depending on the theme will determine how easy that is to do.

@hallen I see… This is good to know. I thought there was a theme every week. Glad to know there are also open weeks, where you can perform whatever you want. Also, on an unrelated note, I am finally getting around to catching the portion of your archive special I missed, due to it being directly opposite the super bowl, so hoping to get in my votes on those Compare the Differences to you, later on this afternoon.

@hallen I noticed for the coming up announcement on your archive special, you announced it by yourself. Nick Baker didn’t join you for that. Referring to the show from 2/8/26, going back to 2/2/14.

@hallen I’m guessing, Nick chose to not join you for the coming up announcement, since he did appear for the time machine part right before the archive began. Just starting to listen to it now. I’m up to the promo break at the beginning of the show. Past you is playing the litter bug PSA by Nat King Cole as I type this. Listening via File Browser on my phone. My external drives on the desktop are networked, and you can make them show up in File Browser, and as long as you’re on your home wifi network, you can listen to anything on your computer on those network drives, on your phone. It is so cool!

If there’s one thing, I cannot stand, is when people, flat out ignore me, with no explanation. So some of you may know this, while some of you, obviously won’t. Last week, I was dared to sing, Never Knew Love Like This Before, by Stephanie Mills, on my radio show, The Variety Party. I put it together last Thursday, and played it on the show on Friday, and my listeners, enjoyed what they heard. However, I did something else with the song as well. I submitted it to ACB Community Karaoke, which takes place on Saturday nights on Zoom and Clubhouse. I attended the event, my song played, and everybody seemed to enjoy it, and hopes I’ll come back. I also communicated a little bit for a couple of days with Meka, one of the ladies in charge of this weekly event within the ACB Community. I as made aware of a mailing list where the themes are announced each week, and I expressed interest in being added to the list. I was also told, both, in writing, and at the event itself, what the theme would be for 2/21. Songs, with animal names in the title. However, it was also brought up that as of this past Saturday, they already had 27 people signed up, with their chosen songs, submitted. As I lay there early Sunday morning, I thought of several songs I’d love to sing, fitting this theme, but naturally, I can only pick 1 song, or 2 songs, if one is a solo, and one is a duet. Uncertain of what to pick, and knowing that a lot of people had submitted songs already, not wanting to put together something that had been picked, I emailed a list to the email address that we are supposed to write to with our submissions, with at least 10 ideas, and to please get back to me and let me know, out of those ideas, which ones hadn’t been chosen by anybody to sing this next week so I could narrow down my choices, and get something ready, by the deadline late on Thursday night. Please know I’m going to be busy tomorrow and Wednesday, so that doesn’t give me a lot of time. It’s been almost 24 hours since I emailed Meka at the karaoke unite email address, and I’ve heard nothing back. This is just proof that people are lying, rotten, pieces of shit. When you have to prerecord for karaoke, it’s time consuming. I will not make time for this, if the hosts of this call, are going to turn around, and deliberately ignore me like this. If you wanted me to return for future community karaoke events, the least you can do, is not live up to one of my biggest pet peeves, and keep the lines of communication open, and actually respond to my email, in a timely manner, thank you very much. I find this silent treatment extremely rude and disrespectful, even if all of my choices had been grabbed up, a simple, “All of those songs have been picked,” would be fine. I’d rather know this, and not participate this next week because all of the songs I was considering, are already being done by somebody else, than not responding at all. To anybody reading this who was hoping I’d return to ACB Community Karaoke, I will not be having anymore to do with it, until Meka responds to the email I sent yesterday. And if she never responds, well then, I hope all who heard my performance back on Valentine’s Day enjoyed it, because if communicating with me refuses to improve, then I might have just participated in ACB Community Karaoke, for the first, and final, time. And one more thing. I was obviously, never added to the community karaoke mailing list either, because I didn’t receive the official announcement post the conclusion of Saturday’s community karaoke event announcing next Saturday’s theme, with instructions on how to submit your songs, the deadline to submit them by, etc. I would have figured that message would have gone out either on Saturday night or sometime on Sunday to give participants plenty of time to decide a song and get them ready. However, that is either, not the case, or, I was never added to that mailing list to begin with. So yeah, as you can probably tell, I’m not very happy at the moment.

@hallen also, while you got your show archive from yesterday posted to your page, you did forget to do something. The tutorials from yesterday, on Station Playlist and Audio Hijack, I didn’t see those in the Tutorials folder in the station Dropbox. Wanted to remind you to put those in there, as somebody forgot to do that after we got off Teamtalk. Whoops! lol! Or are they going some place else, like a podcast page, since they were designed for anybody and everybody. If so, we could have something like, http://986themix.com/tutorials, and then, we could put direct links to those tutorials on the page with the rules that people need to agree to before applying, as a resource for them to refer to if they are new to broadcasting, and want to get started with either, Station Playlist Studio, if using Windows, or Audio Hijack, if using the Mac. Hope you like this idea. And, since I did comment with some helpful tips in the Studio tutorial, you have my full permission to give me credit if there’s a blerp that goes up either on The Mix’s website, or should you do .txt files with show notes to go along with the tutorials on the podcast page I’m suggesting goes up at the previous URL I suggested you create.

@baxaphobia @celrock I'm actually not trying to start something here but why so hostile. Not everybody is on their pc's 24/7 and I personally don't check my emails after a certain point in my day because a lot of my job is handled via email and looking at more emails after I'm done with work for the day actually irritates me. I especially don't look at emails on the weekends, that's my time to relax. Also, today is a holiday and for some people like me it's a day off. I'm not opening my inbox for anything until tomorrow morning. You can't control how fast your email gets answered, and jumping to the conclusion that you're being ignored and calling someone names like this doesn't necessarily put you in the best light. I get that you're frustrated, but you're frustrated for the wrong reasons. You'll be answered, you might just need to be patient.

@hallen I’ve heard of that feature, and this is good to know. Also, up to your second set of music in the show, getting into the music from Kenny Loggins, and interesting that you didn’t save, Your Mama Don’t Dance, as a Compare the Difference, as you could have done Loggins and Macina, vs. Poison, as Poison also covered, Your Mama Don’t Dance. #ArchiveSpecial #FebruarySecond2014

@celrock That would be 2017. I hadn't heard the poison version at that time. Otherwise, who knows?

@hallen Ah, to be fair, I didn’t know about the Poison version back in 2014 either. I wanna say Creative Kelly introduced me to that version in 2018 when she was still doing Kelly’s Creative Collage on The Q Online, before bringing it to 98.6 The Mix.
