So, is what you're saying that the average "Linux" user somehow(!?) still hasn't caught up to the GNU in GNU/Linux? Or doesn't distinguish between downloading opaque binaries (flatpak anyone?) and programs built from source by your distribution or by yourself. How could that have happened? /S

GNU meaning: we only run free software, and all free software can be compiled to run on GNU/Linux.

@itsfoss First picture is me, when software is said to be a "Linux program" but it's just really an Open source program that's relatively platform agnostic and runs on an BSD for example with no or very tiny tweaks.

First, yes. Second, no. I think software should be available on as many platforms as possible so that the user has the freedom to use it everywhere he or she wants.

@simondeutschl @itsfoss Not everything may be available on different platforms. To port Easyeffects to windows, you’ll have to rewrite most of the code

aah yes. I expected a program from MacOS to become available for Linux because MacOS is also kind of Linux. But it was impossible. The creator even abandoned Windows as platform.
However it is false speak about Linux users that GNU or FOSS shouldnot run on other OS.

@itsfoss I switched to linux (just a user) circa 2003. Primarily for FLOSS principles, 2nd for security & 3rd to avoid software costs.

There were many issues - dial up, cdma, wifi issue; printer & accessories etc etc

                    Circa now literally everything works

But Sometimes i have to help people on micro$lop wincedows - literally every default software is shit. Their default PDF tool is enshittified shit. Installing new software is a pain. All software have muliple layers of enshittification.
