@randahl Orban is another nasty piece of work, in this case he is acting as a proxy war agent for Putin, and the EU should respond as if Hungary is Russia. Actually, I'd kick Hungary out of the EU, they are a total disruption. Let them see if they like being part of Russia.

The lack of selfcontrolling/-adjusting(!) mechanisms in such Confederations of States and even in democracies themselve are astonishing.
So once you're "on top" or "in" you can do what ever you want. Which means apparently nothing less than an immanent/built in selfdestruction. An institutional timebomb as soon as someone reckless comes into power.

Bill T/13783 uses the seizure as a pretext for retroactive legislation. It creates a loophole to probe past transactions and authorizes secret surveillance of the opposition under 'national security.' This appears to be a 'two birds with one stone' move: addressing a crime while potentially legalizing political monitoring for partisan gain.
