Monaco-based migrant Jim Ratcliffe complains about immigrants in the UK, while himself being an immigrant in Monaco.
But that's different because he's rich & entitled, and the migrants in Britain are just normal folk trying to survive & thus merely a problem to be resolved.
Of course, its just the usual hypocrisy of the wealthy amplified by the complicit media.
If he was fined 50% of his worth, then the UK treasury would be significantly healthier.
But of course, we is wealthy so that won't happen.

@ChrisMayLA6 he’s one of the 76% o residents not born in Monaco. And he thinks UK has too many immigrants.

@ChrisMayLA6 add to that he's also been getting UK government subsidies for his INEOS chemicals company, while investing that money abroad and closing Grangemouth refinery in Scotland.
I gather he was also touting for government help to redevelop Old Trafford.

It's the thing I find most bewildering about the tribalism of football support. If a team was all local players, I'd understand people being proud of it.

I’ve always thought that ’ex-pat’ should be reserved for workers on fixed-term contracts. As soon as you decide to stay long-term, you clearly become an immigrant. -
Also, the added hypocrisy of someone who owns a football club, when most big football clubs have players from all over the world. No immigration? Fine. But all Manchester United players have to be from Manchester, and you can't just buy in good ones from elsewhere.
@suearcher @ChrisMayLA6 The problem is that the ideal UK immigrant is someone who was trained in their trade in their home country, comes to the UK for all of their productive years, therefore pays tax and national insurance contributions in the UK during those years, but who then returns to their home country when they are no longer productive and/or may actually need to rely on any kind of social security safety net.
International footballers fit that profile perfectly.

'Ex-pats' are definitely still very British, likely to return to the UK, less integrated in French society and generally more critical of French (or regional) culture.
