    Happy Mariner Monday!

    Mariner: "Ugh, the longer I'm off a ship, the more useless I feel. Like that. Like that big, dumb red thing"

    Admiral Freeman: "Beckett, you know that's the Golden Gate Bridge"

    Mariner: "Nobody drives anymore. Why do you need a bridge? This planet's whack"

      @HippieScubaSteve Look, I love Mariner, I really do. She's such a mood.

      ...but, I'm gonna respectfully disagree with her here. Maybe it's because I'm born and raised in the bay, but the Golden Gate Bridge is a work of art. Who cares if it serves it's original practical purpose anymore?

        @USSJoshuaNorton @HippieScubaSteve Yes, even if no one drives anymore it's still a very nice footbridge, and the view is spectacular.

          @joshsusser Also, I've seen at least once in Trek where the roadway is covered with solar panels in canon. (You can sure tell that Star Trek is written by people who don't know San Fran weather patterns, but maybe solar panels are efficient enough to get decent power when it's foggy in the future?)

          I took a picture hella years ago looking up one of the towers into the fog. I need to see if I can find the negatives or print again, or just walk it again to take a new version.

            @USSJoshuaNorton @joshsusser

            I lived in the Bay Area for a few years back in the mid-90's. Absolutely loved it out there.
