    @dcdeejay I can't get into some of my old accounts they can delete it for all I care.

        @Abdulzefir999 @dcdeejay the IDs dont go to the government tho they just go to 3rd party datafirms. Goverment only tells websites to do this and thats it.

          @joonq because governments have your ids and stuff already. It's naive to think that this is something different.

          Intelligence, counter-intelligence and other secret services have existed since forever. No citizen is invisible to the ruling class.

            @justincrozer I was caught in that situation once - not over ID - I refused a demand to add my phone number to a 13 year old account. Took some fighting, but I managed to delete my data.

            It should be illegal for companies to change TOS and then hold accounts hostage in that manner. Another reason we need to elect governments not beholden to digital service providers.

              Canadians: You do have some options when dealing with companies abusing your data. It takes some research, effort & persistence, but you do have the law on your side and some actionable & effective leverage.
