@llamasoft_ox So in case you can't hear well .. we called the vet .. turns out Victoria has laminitis and ( after some blood tests ) turns out it's probably 'chronical' ( she is born with this tendency to get it ). We took some X-ray of her feet there's a bit of 'rotation' but thankfully not that much however she needs to be specially trimmed so the hooves get aligned properly with the bones and has to be done in stages. She has now to stay at least 5 weeks in a stable on a special diet of CONT.

@llamasoft_ox CONT. hay soaked for at least 2 hours in water ( I leave it more ) then drained to remove as much as possible of the sugary content. Then she'll have to get 1/2 tablet a day of a medication and she also gets a bit of "food balancer". In 5 weeks time we'll check her again to see how she's doing. It's quite a lot of work for us and a bit of stress and also for her I think as well, we try to do the best hoping she won't get bananas being in a stable for so long. Ah also she needs CONT

@llamasoft_ox CONT. sawdust bedding so she walks "on soft" and that needs replacement as well. We already spent quite a bit of money and it's going to cost us more. But mostly "we can't go anywhere" at least for all the next month. But as I said "I just hope she won't get nuts" being in the stable most of the time, we are going to get some toys/something/check her as frequently as we can but we ALSO need to work ! If we stop working it's a disaster so we are jumping "between keyboards and CONT.

@llamasoft_ox CONT. stables" to keep things going. The thing is Victoria really is of such a sweet nature/dear ( plus she's really a gorgeous pony ) she deserves all the help she can get, it's not her fault but sure "we been a bit stitched" when we got the horse because nobody told us about her "special needs". Anyway we are on a path of attempting to fix things, wish us luck and send good vibes for Victoria because with animals "you can try the impossible" but there's a limit to what you can do

              Hugs to you both.
              Some positive thoughts to Victoria.

@gilesgoat @llamasoft_ox Laminitis can be treated but she needs special low sugar feed, no grass, too much sugar, alfalfa is good iirc. If she's older maybe some senior feed but check the sugar content. She might do better on what's called a dry lot aka turn out but no access to grass.

@TGG303 @llamasoft_ox For the moment we do the thing to soak ( for around 6 hours ) in water 4Kg of ( dry ) hay changing the water every now and then and then hanging it out to dry to remove as much sugar as possible. No access to grass can be complicated here at most we can give ( in a future ) her access to very little grass ( and I mean really little ) and supply her some washed hay as supplement. What about straw ? Is it good for a horse ?

@gilesgoat @llamasoft_ox Barley or oat straw but not completely, maybe 25% to 45% with hay, make sure to give her vitamin e and a ration balancer too so she isnt missing any vitamins/minerals.
