European Commission has updated its follow buttons.

@AliceStollmeyer That’s cool, but when I click to follow on my mobile, I am passed on to their account on their server to follow, but then I need to log in to my account, which is in a different server and that is not possible (or well hidden).
@hfalcke I had the same issue, it was fine when I followed them through the original post: https://eupolicy.social/@hpod16/116538344713848285

@Pineywoozle i’m sure there’s a trick to do it but in the simple way, I tried to do it I got nowhere. And then you don’t want to spend too much time on this.

@Random9 Who's "you"? I don't think she works for any EU institution. Meanwhile, if YOU want the upper chamber of the EU legislative to be on Mastodon, ask your government (I've asked mine, along with the national broadcaster and a few others... Chances are your Minister of Foreign Affairs and my Minister of Transport, both EU "Senators", would tweet via VPN). And if you want to go all the way to the top and have the EU executive on here, ask this guy:

X, Facebook, YouTube are out.(Only when you scroll all the way down, FB and YT are still there, but no longer X.)
European Commission, official website
The official website of the European Commission, providing access to information about its political priorities, policies and services

@AliceStollmeyer LinkedIn though... it's still a problem because it's microslop's social network

@hfalcke @AliceStollmeyer Typically when you click 'follow' without being logged in, it prompts you to enter your full handle and then sends you to your own instance to complete the follow request. is that not what's happening here?
@aetios @AliceStollmeyer I was pointed to their profile on their server and then I clicked follow and then I had to login and it was the wrong server. Maybe I was too dumb, but I guess I may not be a sole exception

@hfalcke Works for me. It's a two-step process, when you click "Follow" (or "Følg" in Norwegian), you get to input the name of the instance (where your mastodon account is). This is automatically filled in for me, probably since I've done similar before. Hitting a "Go" button brings you to your account, with e.g. the profile of the European Commission displayed, where you may hit "Follow" to actually have the follow action completed.

EU Commission has a duty to inform EU citizens without discrimination.
Unfortunately EU people are still using X, it is not banned.

@AliceStollmeyer bluesky is just a mirror of X. As a European (and American) it's disappointing for me to see the EU commission choosing sides of the US puppet show.
It's like positrons and negatrons. It's a similar thing. People are tired of it.
