Doug Ford’s idea to fill in part of the harbour for jets requires an extension of 557m — longer than an Eaton Centre, four full subway trains, or twenty streetcars, just to reach the recommended runway for Embraer’s small jets.

@c_9 Doug Ford can go to hell. I hope they stop that. The comparison to Pearson is ridiculous. Folk know they are buying homes under a flight plane at Pearson. People under the island flight plans bought in a quiet neighbourhood. The noise as is is bad enough. Increasing it? Along the waterfront, with outdoor spaces that people enjoy? Very crappy.

@c_9 Given he was referring to the island residents as squatters, I'm betting his grand plan is to take over Toronto islands for his convention centre fantasy.

@c_9 My first thought: 3 non-metric measurements.
On further reflection: could a threat/idea of a US armed force using the island airport with a longer runway scupper Dug’s idea?

@thatdawnperson I'm 0.064 streetcars tall it's totally intuitive.
