The only proof we need that our security and privacy tools work is the push for age verification and registered developers. The push for these laws and policies are nothing more than blatant attempts to turn every single hoster, developer, moderator, etc... into criminals for not making users easy to spy on by states or have data harvested from by corporations. It is also an attempt to deflect liability away from abuses on corporate platforms.
But the assholes pushing this shit forget something, the same people they are targeting hold up the entire internet. Go ahead and keep calling your politicians, but I think it is time to go further.
    Sabotage.
Your labour and projects are yours. Your skills and abilities are yours. The same people threatening you rely on your projects. I propose we threaten back. Not only refuse to comply, but threaten to sabotage projects to prevent the people threatening you from using them.
The FLOSS world belongs to the people not the politicians or capitalists. They have no right to tell us what we shall must do. When they forget this we remind them with fire. This is a call for a #CyberRiot to remind them. Start with injecting warnings that they are forced to see, but have actions ready.

This is incredibly well done open source reaserch that was taken down off of reddit.

"Meta spent $26.3 million on federal lobbying in 2025 and deployed 86+ lobbyists across 45 states. It funded a nationally active advocacy group (DCA) with no legal existence in the IRS system. It hired Hilltop Public Solutions to simultaneously run its $45M super PAC and coordinate DCA's messaging. It previously hired Targeted Victory to run a covert astroturfing campaign against TikTok using child safety as the narrative frame.

This investigation documents all of that with primary sources. A post containing those findings was mass reported on Reddit within hours and suppressed site-wide by automated systems. Whether the reports were organic or coordinated, the outcome is the same: the content was removed from the platform where Meta has both the motive and the documented capability to suppress it.

The research is published in a git repository with every source embedded. It does not depend on Reddit's infrastructure to survive. "
