I have done nothing of use today.

I have done nothing of use today. Absolutely nothing. I don't feel guilty about that (more lucky) but I do feel the need to achieve something practical. While contemplating what practical thing I would try & achieve, I took some photos of flowers & made a silly but colourful representation of self love (not that kind).
Anyhow. I am now off to achieve something practical. Definitely. Right about now.

@eclectech "I have done nothing of use today" is practically my mantra now. Tempted to have it engraved on my headstone when I go

Anyway, you have made me smile with your wonderful photo!

@eclectech Well, you practically already did, depending on your definition of practical.

Somehow I seem to reap the benefit when you eschew practical matters.... π©·π©·π©·

@eclectech
"Sometimes, in a summer morning, having taken my accustomed bath, I sat in my sunny doorway from sunrise till noon, rapt in a revery, amidst the pines and hickories and sumachs, in undisturbed solitude and stillness, while the birds sing around or flitted noiseless through the house, until by the sun falling in at my west window, or the noise of some traveller's wagon on the distant highway, I was reminded of the lapse of time. I grew in those seasons like corn in the night, and they were far better than any work of the hands would have been. They were not time subtracted from my life, but so much over and above my usual allowance. I realized what the Orientals mean by contemplation and the forsaking of works. For the most part, I minded not how the hours went. The day advanced as if to light some work of mine; it was morning, and lo, now it is evening, and nothing memorable is accomplished."H.D. Thoreau - Walden, chapter 4.
@woodwonk Oh, that last sentence is perfect.

@steeph I need to adopt Humpty Dumpty's approach - βit means just what I choose it to mean'

I have done Practical Things!
I managed some essential garden clearing up, only getting briefly distracted by trying to spot the blackbird I could hear (finally found him hiding way up in a tree).
Also made some cheese scones, and although were not absolutely necessary they were tasty.
Am now going to get a glass of wine and do Impractical Things.

@eclectech Yep, that's my favorite, too. I also like the bit about growing like corn in the night.
