@t3rcermillenium @elduvelle @Vivaldi @alexadeswift @Tutanota vivaldi has a built-in ad blocker, and my understanding is that it doesn't need this API. Although from my experience it isn't that good; when I used vivaldi for a while, I used it with ublock lite.
@placebo @elduvelle @Vivaldi @alexadeswift @Tutanota I recently tried #vivaldibrowser. Very nice but I had the same experience with ads. For now, Iโll stick with #firefox

@Tutanota looks like I'm only one here with Brave )
-
Mullvad
Vivaldi
Waterfox@alexadeswift @Tutanota Yeah, I recently switched to @Vivaldi , its the best browser, I'd prefer a Gecko / Firefox base, but I'm sure they have their reasons.
-
@t3rcermillenium
google chrome is not the same as Chromium though?
@Vivaldi does that affect you all?@elduvelle @t3rcermillenium @alexadeswift @Tutanota we unfortunately don't have the manpower to maintain these once Chromium pulls the plug

@Tutanota You can also use any MV3 blockers like uBlock Origin Lite, it works just as well from my experience.

@Tutanota
Well, DuckDuckGo desktop browsers aren't FOSS, neither support Linux nor uBO.
Puffin is proprietary too.
Pale moon has an old-schooled design and a buggy ad blocker (likely causing unique fingerprint), while IceCat shipping upgrade quite slowly (not ideal for security reason)There are other FOSS, privacy-respecting (or protecting) browsers.
Only the only trustworthy browsers are the open source ones.

@Tutanota Firefox mostly, and Vivaldi now and then.
-
@t3rcermillenium
So is Brave - afaik also based on Chromium?@Vash @t3rcermillenium @alexadeswift @Tutanota
but @brave still supports MV2, while even built ad blocker into its core.
So Google's Manifest V3 scam won't be a problem for it. -

@Tutanota I personally like zen, but all of the options you listed are pretty good.

@placebo I had the same experience with Vivaldi. Claims to have a built in adblocker, but it let a lot of ads through, so I quickly stopped using it.
-
@Tutanota
Sorry, no other browser comes even close to the usability of Vivaldi (on the desktop).At least that one will still come with an in-built adblocker - and with a pi-hole in my network, I don't see the problem (a.k.a. "ads") anyway.
@s10n I saw plenty of ads on Vivaldi even with pihole helping it out. Pihole can't block self-hosted ads, and the Vivaldi ad blocker isn't fit for purpose.

@Tutanota I'm using water for some time now and it works just fine. Getting an obscure browser to work perfectly under Linux does require some tinkering.
