    @tkissing I expect polite answers because I think respect is something everyone should be granted, regardless if we agree or not. It is very easy to not insult people just because.

    I donโ€™t own such a truck and I donโ€™t even want to. Iโ€™ve never hurt anyone in any way or form. So I donโ€™t know why you are being this aggressive. But you do you.

    @reloadedhead unfortunately the attitude of presuming the worst and attacking people in unacceptable manner on that presumption is common around here.

    We need to find collective ways to calm those people down as they poison the Commons with their insensitivity. Moderators are apparently not up to the task.

      @fj because they are huge heavy gas guzzling tanks and peeps are buying EVs as they cost less to run. 'MURICA! are going backwards in the car market and wondering why they are not selling.

        @fj I really wish we could have an area tax: bigger vehicles take up more room and increase traffic.

          @simon_brooke @fj
          That is exactly the road tax in the Netherlands. Well, not exactly... It's weight and fuel type.
          A light electric car is cheapest in taxes

            @openrisk internet in general has always been. I do understand the โ€œpresuming the worstโ€ attitude. I am very reserved when it comes to trust. But respect on the other hand is very easy to grant!

              @Rin3d @killionaire @fj and the people who drive them really should not be. Because they think these are automobiles for a small city streets. They are showpieces now as the truck beds are so small you canโ€™t haul anything other than your trip to Costco. Good luck putting furniture in the back of one

                @fj why not let people decide if they want such a large vehicle or not?

                You know, there are many truck drivers that get struck into narrow roads just because they followed G maps, that's another reason
                If you are a danger for people you have no right to do as you wish for no reasonable necessity

                  @fj

                  The EU should offer a compromise: allow the Tesla cybertruck to be sold.

                  (Because absolutely no one will by it but the Trump regime are too stupid to figure that out. They'll take the "win" back to the boss with pride.)

                    @reloadedhead Demanding respect is easy. Showing it is not, otherwise you'd have at least phrased your question differently. Or you would have thought about the topic for about half a second and realized that the size and a weight of a car effects other people at least as much as the person driving it.
                    As for politeness in language, I couldn't care less. US (debate) culture, including in the House and Senate, is all about polite words and a calm voice, but look at what that country is doing.

                      @fj oh, I've traveled in extensively in Europe, and can confirm: full size US pickups have no business on the roads of Europe. It's not Europe's fault US manufacturers have enlarged their pickups so much they literally don't fit on European roads anymore. (In truth, they *barely* fit on US roads either.)

                        @fj they're so dangerous. Part of this arms-race of "protecting ourselves on the road to the risk of everyone else." Their high center of gravity and sense of overconfidence is terrible for snowy conditions, and their enormous hoods make blindspots where even people in my neighborhood got killed by one of these things talking a turn and not seeing pedestrians.

                        @fj AND ALSO they don't really have more power or torque, at least not the amount that people need for legally sized and weighted trailers. They're glorified minivans cosplaying as giant penises
