Having done a few rides with DJI action cam my main complaint is buttons. I realize there's trade-offs for action, but man the power button is a bear. Hard to press and performs multiple actions: long press for power, quick press to change mode. Hello, I'm wearing winter gloves!

But that's not why I'm here, at least directly, did you know they have an SDK? They use it in their little camera remote.
Here's their demo code to get an ESP32-C6 to control the camera over BLE (low power bluetooth). One could make their OWN buttons!

@jerzone No phone app for it?
Early GoPro's had a phone app that could preview and control it. I looked into it ages ago for a neighbor. It was soon sh**ified by requiring internet access for it to work but early versions didn't need that.Being able to monitor what is being recorded while you ride would be really nice...

@lfisk There's a phone app.
1. fire up app, it jumps to wrong page, loads up
2. switch to rec page, wait for popup
3. tap "Connect" on popup, wait for network popup
4. tap "Join" on popup, hope this time it works
5. if 4 timed out/didn't work goto 3
6. now you can tap record button on screen -

@lfisk If I had a phone handlebar mount then I could keep their app open and use that UI, as long as phone battery held up in the cold. The sold separately remote has a little screen to view what's being recorded, the SDK also supports getting this stream for display.

@jerzone I saw that little display window on the remote and wondered if it could show the video stream.
Should be really helpful for adjusting the camera. Being able to purposely look at stuff here & there knowing it's in the frame too
