"The reforms will mean companies making political donations will be required to show that they have a genuine connection to the UK. This includes demonstrating that they are headquartered in the UK, majority owned or controlled by UK electors or citizens and have generated sufficient revenue to cover the donation – closing down foreign actors’ ability to use shell companies to influence UK politics."

Tougher rules on political interference to keep UK elections secure

Foreign actors will no longer be able to use their money to interfere in the UK’s elections, as part of the biggest expansion of democratic participation in a generation

@PoliceStateUK No company should be allowed to make political donations... FULL STOP.

Until then, corruption will continue. Trust will not be rebuilt.

Individual donations (excluding membership fees) should be capped at something like £5000. Any donation over £1000 should be on a permanent, public register.

Clean up our corrupt, failure of democracy NOW!

@distinctdipole Including membership fees. Otherwise the Tories and Reform will just offer a £1,000,000 membership for fossil fuel company owners.

@PoliceStateUK Good point. But also, membership fees have to be published and companies would be banned from masquerading as a political party.

Cut the rot out! Transparency for everything else!
