      @forestine

      I can tell you a number of stories I've heard and some observations.

      - some have grabbed old footage from 20 years ago of animation they did and cut it into a video
      - some have used 8mm childhood movies and cut them together
      - some have use public domain video from archive.org, or pexels, or pixabay etc.
      - some have shot abstract footage of nature and cut together or used effects
      - cgi animation
      - using live footage

      🧵

        @forestine

        they are using free editing s/w like #kdenlive #clipchamp #davinci resolve

        #opentoonz for animation

        we mostly don't want simple visualizers but people start with a visualizer like milkdrop or milky milky and then overlay or cut video into it

        some are (obvs) shooting live action narrative videos (we have everything from low to high budget, honestly)

        someone used a pizza box with scotch tape to animate the box and make it 'sing'

          @forestine
          - several have used various timelapse shots (in a car, on a boat, of the sky, people in a public space)
          - several have used series of static images
          - the dialectic can be your friend -- pairing images that are in direct opposition to the music or lyrics can create some interest

          I am rambling now...
