i actually dont have words for how disappointed i am in our provincial government right now. instead of increasing support or regulating the ones doing harm, theyre choosing to isolate and restrict children as if theyre not people. this is braindead. driving a specifically vulnerable population to the margins and into the dark while measuring your success only in number of accounts deactivated is like alex jones level stupid.

where are the dummies who wanted to criminalize encryption like it was a ferocious danger? why dont you want to regulate social algorithms? not one person has suggested licensing requiring transparency and open sourcing of social algorithms really?
is it that those same kinds of people are now making big money and would rather children be treated as second class beings without needs or agency? cool cool cool

let me explain this as if with crayons and popsicle sticks: if your concern is that harm is being done, target the people doing the harm. do not target the people being harmed. i dont know how i can explain it any more simply and if you dont understand or object to this or want to mansplain around it, well, i guess you should get your USian immigration papers ready, theyre all about that shit, regulating and punishing and restricting the people to whom the harm is being done

@SarraceniaWilds 10,000% this. I emailed the premier from halfway across the country. I was bracing for the day when they'd surrender to a choice like this. So disappointing.

@SarraceniaWilds It’s a fundamental contradiction,
we can’t trust these organizations with the well-being of our children ie, to protect against manipulate, compromise, monetize...
the solution is to entrust them with our personal identities giving them the perfect set of tools to manipulate compromise and monetize … us as adults?

Verifiable Credentials Data Model is perhaps a solution to verify identity (and adultness) while still maintaining privacy.But is complex and requires a great deal of work to implement. Are any politicians willing to do the work, deal with understanding the technical details and implementing them to meet the demands of their communities? And deal with all the nitty gritty details?
Verifiable Credentials Data Model v2.0
A verifiable credential is a specific way to express a set of claims made by an issuer, such as a driver's license or an education certificate. This specification describes the extensible data model for verifiable credentials, how they can be secured from tampering, and a three-party ecosystem for the exchange of these credentials that is composed of issuers, holders, and verifiers. This document also covers a variety of security, privacy, internationalization, and accessibility considerations for ecosystems that use the technologies described in this specification.
