Without the sad music, pretty much never.
I am easily manipulated -

@wohali i've always been susceptible to a degree, but these days as soon as it's got some kind of resonance with something intensely sad or happy in my life i'm done for. a total sucker.

@wohali Was going to say Hardly Ever, but then remembered I sobbed through most of the Bad Bunny halftime show, so... yeah maybe sometimes I guess.

@wohali I'm not sure how to vote, because my brain responds to different things differently, and I don't know why.
I almost never cry when reading a book. Rarely even close. But films can make me cry at the slightest trigger, even films that aren't meant to be weepie will often leave me sobbing.
Music sometimes does too, or rather the artful combination of music and emotional-tugging lyrics.
Books though? Dry eyes every time. No idea why this is the case.

@wohali I'm not crying: I just get a lot of dust in my eyes when I watch some movies or read some books!

@wohali since I've started estrogen, I basically haven't stopped crying at… everything
(to make up for the 35 years i didn't (wasn't allowed to) cry)
reading certain passages in books, watching certain scenes in a movie, or just specific passage from a song will tear me up (and sometimes totally unravel me… lol)

@wohali really sad stories make me pop off at how effectively the author constructed and conveyed the tragedy. I'm like "hell yeah this is so moving" but not a lot of waterworks
