      @VeroniqueB99 @obscurestar I mean, they're all cults. Scientology is just a new cult.

        @VeroniqueB99 The best way to prevent fundamentalism of any variant is to teach people comparative religion. When people can see how the tenets of their "default" faith evolved from previous traditions, it is hard to be a "my book or go to hell" fanatic.

        Speaking of hell, we can also see how the imagery of hell evolved from ancient Egypt through Dante. In an earlier variant, for example, the lake of fire was a moat to keep people in.

            Religion is the flower that grows on the bush of culture. Religion can produce religious wars or ecumenical embrace. But it's faith, the evidence of things not seen, as St. Paul said.

            Religion is a great justifier, a great excuse-maker, a liar, a braggart. Though religion has preached peace on earth, it has become the greatest engine of violence known to man.

            I still believe. I still don't know why.

                  @VeroniqueB99

                  How many times have Texas and other ruby red states tried to implement a "show me your ten commandments" in public classroom schtick, and how many times has that been ruled blatantly unconstitutional?

                    @VeroniqueB99 Do they say what size the 10 commandments must be? Can it be set at 2 pt. type and mounted up near the ceiling?

                          @VeroniqueB99 #Alt4You #AltText: A generic grey filing cabinet in a classroom. 11 signs/posters/pictures cover most of it. The top row is pics of 4 (Hindu?) dieties. Below that, a poster reading "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion..." Next to it, "5 Pillars of Islam" (with a list). Below that, the Christian "The 10 Commandments". Next to it, "The Seven Fundamental Tenets". Below it, "Buddhism Knowledge." Next to that, "I am Hindu." Each has lists of rules/beliefs.

                            Can't wait for someone to have a heart attack over the Tenets being included.
