I just heard from the developer that it is not possible to make FastSM compatible with Windows 7. This leaves TWBlue, unless there is another client I'm missing. I know that TWBlue does have an older version that works with 7, so I'm guessing it's just a matter of updating certain things to give it the features of the latest version. Sadly, as I said in the past, TweeseCake is not open source, so that's not an option. As for why I don't do it myself, I am not a programmer.

@dandylover1 If I may ask, why is Tweesecake not an option because it's not open source? Is it that you don't want to install anything which isn't open source?

@techsinger No. It doesn't work with Windows 7, and I doubt the developers will make it do so. With open source software, even if the main developers don't want to (or can't) change it, other people can.

@dandylover1 I'm sorry to contradict, but I'm posting from Tweesecake on Windows 7. I believe I mentioned this before, but don't think it was to you, it may have been to someone else. I'm running it using the VXKex package for Windows 7 sp1.

@dandylover1 If you want the original installer, which is free of malware to my knowledge, for VXKex, let me know.

@techsinger Very interesting! I installed VXKex Next and it doesn't work with anything! I would love to try this! By the way, I found mine here. https://github.com/YuZhouRen86/VxKex-NEXT/releases

@techsinger Yes. That would be great.

@dandylover1 I don't want to pressure you or something, but I'd reconsider using Windows 7 if I were you. It was a great system yes, but it's not supported for a long long time.

@menelion The only thing I can't use with it is a Mastodon client. Everything else works. I've also been using computers for over twenty years, so I am a ware that it's no longer supported.

@techsinger I just found the latest release here. https://github.com/i486/VxKex/releases/tag/Version1.1.4.1588

@dandylover1 I'm afraid I've never used VXKex-next, not because I knew anything against it but because I've never needed it. The VXKex installer I use is at
https://wormhole.app/6Ynr4q#s1xPKP52sAWXdjSjLWqA2w
Note that other installers on the internet have been found to have malware. I don't, of course, know for sure this one doesn't, but I have been using it since March of 2024 without issue and it was downloaded several months before the repository was ever considered to have malware. If you install it, then press alt+enter on tweesecake.exe, go to the vxkex page of the properties dialog with ctrl+tab, and make sure thatEnable VxKex for this program
is checked. Also make sure that
Disable VxKex for child processes
is checked. I have left the other boxes unchecked.
