@vga256 Thanks. It wasn't on my bingo card for 2026, but save some omissions with the documentation regarding putting this thing in Docker, it was relatively trivial. I already had Peertube, so now I'm completely independent.

And sure, shame about the post history, I had quickly glanced over the account migration process in the past and back then it was coming soon. But apparently not soon enough.

and fwiw just in case you’ve never come across this factum: masto does not support changing domains or subdomains at all. so hopefully some.apz is your permanent subdomain of choice

@vga256 Yeah, the fact about being locked to the domain was among the first things I learned from the documentation and I created this sub domain for just this purpose. Ditto with my Peertube which is at video.apz.fi.

The domain reflects the fact that this is for my personal use and I'm not looking to open it to the public.

The positive side is that I can break this thing as much as I like and don't have to explain it to angry users.

@apzpins that’s good. i had seen the notice in the install docs, but hadn’t realized it also applied to subdomains.

running a single user instance is great. i no longer have to worry about uptime and upgrade downtime. if it’s down, i only have 1 person to complain about
